About Ian Robinson
Ian Robinson is an artist from North East England, he studied at the University of the Arts, London where he acquired a First Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art: Painting. Prior to moving to London in 2007, Ian worked in the Oil and Gas industry but went on to study painting at Wimbledon College of Art from which he graduated with First Class Honours in 2011. Ian now works from his South East London base and his work focuses on people'e passions and collections by depicting their beauty and detail. He enjoys painting objects that face being replaced by digital platforms such as records, books and music technology. His paintings are photorealistic, a style he adopted whilst he was still at College where he painted pictures of his own record collection. When he moved to London he gained access to numerous other collections including those of Sir John Soane, Cassiano Dal Pozzo and Aby Warburg. His focus then switched from music to literature. When visiting collections, Robinson makes drawings and takes photos, he then scales these up, sometimes by hand, sometimes by projecting the photography on to the canvas and paints them in minute detail over many months. We displayed some of Ian's beautiful works during our Still Life Exhibition between 12th October - 9th November 2018.
